Dish #20 - Honey Crumbs Banana Mufffffffins!

The Dish: The baking frenzy continues as I make my first batch of banana bread muffins. I altered the recipe I found from allrecipes.com and not only are these little delights super tasty, they're also quite healthy! There is minimal margerine and sugar; you can add oats, walnuts and almonds (and other healthy grains and nuts) into the batter or sprinkle them on top (I did both). I also sprinkles a little brown sugar and honey on top so it gives the muffins an extra crunch! I am definitely adding this one to my personal cookbook.

Note: I couldn't buy very ripe bananas so I used normal ones and you can "ripen" them by putting them in the microwave for about a minute or so until warm.

Dish #19 - Tween Power!!!

The Dish: At the end of the day, we cannot underestimate the power of little American tweens. I'm pretty sure they are the reason that Adam Lambert lost American Idol. Although I remain a true Glambert fan, I do think that 'dark horse' Kris Allen deserved the title. The show is, afterall, called American Idol. Translated, it is a popularity contest. Let's face it: in real life, the weird, gay punk rocker (with more eyeliner than Amy Winehouse on most of her bad days) will never beat the charming, cute boy-next-door to being crowned the class president or homecoming king. We, as a society, are comfortable with normality and people that we can relate to. Besides, Kris is from down south (five winners in the past on AI had been from southern states) and he has been talking about his wife, his church and his parents while Adam has been putting on black eyeliner and nail polish, replicating gay iconic musicians and, um, kissing men. Go figure.

What's worse: They came up with this stupid idea and gave Kris some sort of ugly trophy that looked cheaper than the American Idol Gold awards that they gave to the worst male and female contestants of the season:

Outstanding Male = Nick 'Norman Gentle' Mitchell
Outstanding Female = Tatiana 'Crying' Del Toro
Best Attitude = Katrina 'Bikini (Now-With-Recently-Planted-Fake-New-Boobs) Girl' Darrell
Lol. They were so much fun!

Dish #18 - Update.

The Dish: I had to sneak this short, little one in here. Remember Dish #9 a while back where I suspected a little hanky-panky action? Well, it is now confirmed. Sean Penn + Natalie Portman = an item...in whichever way that could possibly mean. He's divorcing his super hot wife for a super hot girl (21 years his junior). Yup, something just isn't right about this equation.

Dish #17 - Forty years of bloody fun!

The Dish: Let's celebrate a little bit of Canadian pride. Today marks the 40th anniversary of the invention of the classic and oh-so-Canadian (Calgary-born) drink: the Bloody Caesar. Invented by Italian bartender Walter Chell, it was originally meant to be the signature drink for the opening of the Calgary Inn, now the Westin, four decades ago. You know the drill: clam juice, tomato juice, Worchestershire sauce, vodka and a kick of Tobasco! Now Mott's is trying to get Parliament Hill to declare the drink as our national cocktail. Coolios.
Note: NOT to be confused with the Bloody Mary, which is lame and has no clam juice in it. Some people even make the Bloody Mary as a virgin drink. Wuss.

Dish #16 - Life's little treats.

The Dish: Finally, here comes the first post of May. Things seem to be lighting up a little this month. Plans are becoming clearer and I'm getting more things completed. Although none of this relates to job searching, I find it quite pleasing to relax at home and enjoy some things that I never have time for. Say hello to the top five treats!

Treat #1
Coffee truffles! Joyce and I had so much fun making these. I'm gonna keep tweaking the recipe until they turn out even better. For some reason, they melt at room temperature and I've been keeping them in the freezer!

Treat #2
Classics. These almost-new novels are freshly borrowed from the public library. I think this is going to inspire me to write short stories again or at least provide some quality reading.

Treat #3
Adam Lambert. I can't stop blogging about him because he is just so brilliant. Enough said. YES!!! This just in! Tonight's elimation: HE WILL BE IN THE FINALE! Photo courtesy of: tvmadman.wordpress.com

Treat #4
It's fruit season! Cherry picking, I do miss it very much. Photo courtesy of: wallcoo.net

Treat #5
After some bummy winter movie months, the summer blockbusters are finally here!
