Dish #53 - Day 2: Cold Turkey?

The Dish: I have an addiction. It's not immediately life threatening. I began my "rehab" process yesterday. Here's to Day 2. Oh, what am I addicted to?

Lip balm: Holy crap it sounds silly. But it is true. I was putting that stuff on at least 8-9 times a day, if not more. Apparently, here are 3 ingredients in common lip balm that can make your lips even drier as they are meant to cure cold sores: menthol, camphor and phenol. I have been putting this stuff on for years!!! My lips are so dependant on it to the point where, recently, even when I put it on, my lips remains irritated, red and dry. I feel temporary relief but it's drying my lips up one application at a time...

Goal: I'm trying to stick to lip gloss instead which is purely cosmetic. As Meg coined it, "lip gloss is the nicotine patch of lip care." It obviously doesn't give me the nice tingly feeling I normally get. I'm also trying to lower my application times to twice a day and eventually going cold turkey. Maybe tomorrow...but I can't possibly do it...my lips get so dry by the evening...they do not naturally retain moisture anymore. Another reason to quit.

Dish #47 - True or False.

The Dish: A lot has been cooking up lately and I do not just mean in my kitchen!

Bradgelina: They are so together. Those tabloids who are getting sued for spreading slander about their false breakup, suckers! What's great is that they show up at the Super Bowl, make out passionately, then goes home to issue the legal actions. Most "heartfelt" moment goes to Jennifer Aniston...all those false stories popping up about her forgiving Brad and getting back together...who am I kidding - nobody cares.

Lil' bro: Seems like Beyonce might possibly have a baby half-brother. Her dad, Matthew Knowles, apparently has been getting busy with a certain Alexsandra Wright (once a guest star on 'Scrubs'). She's filing a paternity suit again Mr. Knowles, claiming he has not paid a cent in child support. She also says that they were together for 18 months and decided together to name their child Nixon. Oh boy. Give that name a rest already - it's scandal after scandal. Also, who spells their name with both an "x" and a "s"? Seriously.

Propaganda? There has been a new wave of beliefs in 'third-hand' smoke ("Lingering residue from tobacco smoke which clings to upholstery, clothing and the skin releas[ing] cancer-causing agents, work in PNAS journal shows" - BBC World News). The main victims of third-hand smoke is claimed to be babies, toddlers and young children as they are generally the ones sniffing carpet and upholstery, biting and licking such surfaces and exposed to long-term close contact with smoking parents. There has been strong opponents to this theory since it is not backed up by solid scientific studies and proof. I say better safe than sorry. These are children we're talking about; they don't know any better but adults should.

Oh by the way: 'Dear John' has beaten 'Avatar' for the top spot at the box office this weekend, proving that the world was spinning on the right orbit last weekend. We can never underestimate the power of little teenie-boppers.

Dish #46 - "Brunch"

The Dish: I made waffles this morning for breakfast at 11:00am. Well, it should not even be called brunch because it was a total of two pieces of waffles topped with strawberries and maple syrup. This is obviously not nearly exciting enough to go on The Life Cooking Project. I took a picture of it anyway.

Dish #45 - The Life Cooking Project.

The Dish: As I mentioned in Dish #44, I was thinking of starting a third blog.  I have one where I rant, one where I write random things that pop into my head (mostly while I'm sleeping) and there is only one other activity which can equal my love to bitching and sleeping: eating/cooking. Thus, The Life Cooking Project begins!

While AutoCAD-ing (a really boring truss) at work today, I thought "Why wait until the perfect moment to start this blog?" There will never be the right moment for most things in life; you just have to go for it. This blog will capture moments of my success and (numerous) failures in cooking, baking and other food related activities such as restaurant experiences. It will highlight happy times and showcase please-do-not-attempt kitchen disasters. Do check it out - I've linked it in the sidebar here! Although, it won't be fully up and functional for a week or so as I add and tweak various elements and have had time to set some goals and challenges for myself to complete.

Dish #44 - Cupcakes.

The Dish: Aiwen and I made chocolate cupcakes with various frosting and toppings tonight. I love cupcakes. They are easy to make and so cute to look at, not to mention super tasty. I'm thinking of starting another blog just dedicated to me making lots of food, eating lots of food, recipes, all my cooking/baking fun and exciting adventures with food and kitchen tools.
Fresh out of the oven. They resemble Kogepan! :)

Our homemade frosting tube.

Attaching the funnel to our tube...
yes the masking tape we used is in the background.

Frosting with Vanilla Icing!

The final product! Mmmmm!
